Giorgio Sobrà

Architect at ICR

Giorgio Sobrà (Moncalieri, Turin, 29 January 1980) is an architect at ICR.

He graduated at the Polytechnic University of Turin with a dissertation on the restoration of archaeological structures (2003), and then he obtained his PhD in History of Architecture at the same university (2007). He went on with a post-doc fellowship (2008-2011) participating in various research projects on the study and the preservation of cultural heritage.

In 2012, he joined the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities and of Tourism, working for the first three years as an official at the Regional Directorate of Piedmont. Since 2015, he has joined the ICR where he is the Director of the Scuola di Alta Formazione e Studio (Advanced Vocational School) in the institute of Matera and Deputy Director in the institute of Rome, where he teaches History of Antique Architecture (ICAR/18), and Architectural Restoration (ICAR/19). He teaches History of Architecture and Theory and History of Restoration at the University of Basilicata (L-ART/04). He is the author and co-author of more than 30 scientific publications and he has participated in numerous archaeological missions and conservation projects in Europe (Italy, France, Greece, Poland), Middle East (Turkey, Jordan), and Central Asia (Afghanistan, Nepal).
